Twitter is one of the top social networking sites in the world. There are over 1 million of tweets sent daily on the site. 140 characters is the maximum allowed on Twitter which allows the user to send out a simple message, and other users use the retweet function which helps them to share and spread the messages you sent. Many people will see your “Hire me” message and the links directing them to your resume.
1. Install Tweetdeck. – First of all Tweetdeck is free software to use with Twitter. I have tried many different products but I seem to always come back to using Tweetdeck. Tweetdeck allows users to create and organize columns to follow job tweets/job-postings, search Twitter accounts, search using keywords, and more. You will never miss out an opportunity to reply.
2. Sign up for TwitJobSearch – TwitJobSearch is an amazing free real-time job search engine that follows and reads millions of tweets and is able to filter out tweets mentioning jobs. All that is needed to be done is enter in the job type, location and then you’ll be able to receive all of the current tweets linking to that job. The search results are in real-time and it updates instantly. This is a great site to use and job seekers should use this site several times a day to keep up with the latest posted job opportunities.
3. Utilize your Twitter bio – Don’t be afraid to use your Twitter biography as a way to attract possible prospective job employers and recruiters. Use search terms to make your profile searchable. Use keywords separated by commas, enter links to your resume, and other professional social networking sites such as LinkedIn. Also be clear and straight to the point about the job you’re searching for. Thinking of you Twitter bio as your cover letter or promotional campaign. Be sure to take into consideration the character limit and use it wisely.
