If you are searching for a great job in the Washington, DC area that is both meaningful and worthwhile, the Center for American Progress is looking for a new Development Manager for its youth organization, Campus Progress. If you are unfamiliar with Campus Progress, it is a wonderful youth mobilization platform that engages both teens and young adults in political issues, progressive activism, and positive change. From leadership training to news sources, online activism to on-the-ground action, the organization is truly a strong force run by and for the youth of this country.
I have participated in many of their campaigns and from what I know they are a wonderful, ethical organization that would be amazing to work for. Some of the issues they’ve worked on include comprehensive sex education, student loan fairness, body image, education, and many other topics. When they send action alerts to your email, they always include news stories, too, which makes their emails both informative as well as activist-oriented.
The Development Manager position is full-time, and it entails keeping contact with potential donors and regular donors, arranging fundraisers, tracking income, pledges, and other monies, collaborating with Campus Progress staff in fundraising efforts, and editing materials, such as grants and brochures. Interested persons should have a Bachelor’s degree, good communication skills, the ability to prioritize and work independently as well as with a group, familiarity with fundraising and ethics, and two years of fundraising experience.
If hired, you will be reporting directly to both the Director of Campus Progress as well as the Senior Vice President of the Center for American Progress. You will also get competitive pay and benefits, both of which are becoming harder to come by these days. For the full description and qualifications, be sure to click here. The job will stay posted online until the position is filled, so be sure to apply as soon as possible. To apply immediately, send your resume and a cover letter via attachment to email@example.com.
